BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

This is a caring ministry offering support and assistance to families/individuals who have suffered the loss of a loved one. They will meet with the family at the wake and answer any questions concerning the readings and music selections for the funeral Mass. They can also meet in the parish office if the family prefers. The Bereavement Ministers also attend the funeral Mass and assist the celebrant with readings and, if needed, serve as Eucharistic Minsters.

There is one training session required for new ministers.

MINISTERS OF CARE FOR THE SICK

These ministers bring the Eucharist to the homebound members of the parish every week and to local nursing homes. They are sent out on Sunday mornings after Mass to visit those unable to attend Mass. There is a special training program here in the parish before being mandated by the Archdiocese.

One session of training/formation is required.

ASSISTANCE MINISTRY

Through the goodness of parishioners, Assistance Ministry is often able to help parishioners who are in need of our solidarity. This is determined by an intake process done by the Parish Office.

SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL

The mission of this ministry is to bring aid and the comfort of the gospel to the needy and the suffering. Food drives and monetary donations enable the food pantry to continue to help the hungry and needy of our parish. They run a religious goods store in church that is open before and after out weekend masses.

There is one required training session.

ALTAR SERVERS

The youth altar servers are students who have received their First Communion ages 8 – 18. The altar servers assist the celebrant at weekend Masses, holy days, and special occasions such as weddings.

There is one training session required.

Mass times. An altar server may be scheduled to serve at least twice a month.

ADULT ALTAR SERVERS

The adult altar servers are needed to assist the Mass celebrant during the week for special liturgies and funerals as we do not have servers available on school days. The youth servers fill in during the summer months.

ARTS AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

This committee is responsible for decorating the church. The major decorating times are Lent, Easter, Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas. The committee is also responsible for the daily maintenance which includes changing the candles, altar cloth, and the Tabernacle Vigil Candle.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

They are ordinary parishioners who humbly serve as ministers at Communion at our parish liturgies, including Sunday masses, holy day masses and other special liturgies.

There is one training session required.

LECTORS

Lectors are members of the parish who possess the skill for public reading. They are chosen to do the scripture readings at Sunday and morning Masses, as well as other special liturgies. There is a short training program to help prepare for this training. Mrs. Helen Kwasniewski is director and can be reached through the parish office.

LITURGY COMMITTEE

Group of parishioners who plan and ensure that the liturgies are beautiful, inspirational, and prayerful. They collaborate with the music ministry and the art and environment committee to help in planning and suggesting the music and decorating the church for the liturgical seasons.

There is no formation or training to be part of this organization.

There are four meetings a year.

MUSIC MINISTRY – ADULT ENGLISH CHOIR

Members of the Adult English Choirs consist of parishioners under the direction of Interim Music Director, Mr. Bryan Shilander, to help facilitate full and active participation in the liturgies. The choirs sing at one Mass on weekends and at other special liturgies. Auditions are NOT required.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday eveningsin Church.

MUSIC MINISTRY – CHILDREN’S CHOIR

This multi-lingual educational choir is composed of parish children from grades 1 through 6. The Children’s Choir sings at various liturgies including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve/Day, Easter, and our annual May Crowning Ceremony. Auditions are NOT required.

Rehearsals are on Fridays in the Teen Room.

USHERS

Ushers are members of the parish who fill the role of Ministers of Hospitality at Mass. Ushers’ responsibilities are: To greet worshippers when they arrive, help anyone needing assistance, to take up the offertory collection and to hand out the parish bulletin at the various exits when worshippers leave the church.
